U S Y
Beth El United Synagogue Youth (U.S.Y.) offers young people a variety of social as well as educational and
religious experiences. U.S.Y. had its national beginnings at Beth El and is a vital part of our Synagogue
today. Our Youth Department offers programming for three age groups spanning grades 5 through 12.
Beresheet
For 5th and 6th graders. Activities take place once or twice a month and provide opportunities for
socializing and performing mitzvot in and around our community.
Kadimah
For 7th and 8th graders. Kadimahniks plan social, religious and cultural activities throughout the
year and participate in regional activities with other chapters.
USY
For 9th through 12th graders. This group meets frequently and participates in many educational,
religious, and social programs including the annual USY play, Purim Carnival, services, conclaves
and conventions. USY elects an Executive Board each year and provides leadership
training for its officers and chairpeople. There are numerous ways to get involved and to
develop lasting, meaningful Jewish friendships.
