Rabbi's Message - Sermons

A sermon is an act of oral communication in which the preacher is an integral part. It is composed not only of his words but also of his voice, gestures, appearance, pace, personality, conviction. Written passages that appear dry or insignificant- or even meaningless- can spring to life when charged by the energy and enthusiasm of a powerful speaker.

Marc Saperstein, Jewish Preaching: 1200-1800, An Anthology
As Professor Saperstein writes, not every sermon reads as it is spoken. Despite the difficulty of fully appreciating a sermon by reading it, we offer a selection of our Shabbat morning and holiday drashot for your perusal. We hope they inspire you to further thought, action and study. If you would like to respond to any of the sermons or want ideas for additional exploration, e-mail Rabbi Davis or Rabbi Olitzky.
