Youth Department
Beth El Rishon United Synagogue Youth (BERUSY), an award-winning chapter of United Synagogue Youth (USY), offers our youth (grades 5-12) a variety of social as well as educational and religious experiences. USY had its national beginnings here at Beth El and is a vital part of our Synagogue today. With the hiring of our youth director, Skylar Werde, our youth department is destined for new heights and accolades.
Our Youth Department offers the following groups:
B’resheet
For 5th and 6th graders. This group gives our 5th and 6th graders a taste of the Jewish youth group experience. Programs take place once a month, from September to May, and are usually on Sunday. Participants enjoy social action, religious, and social programs.

Kadimah
For 7th and 8th graders. Kadimaniks plan social, religious and cultural activities throughout the year and participate in regional activities with other chapters. A wide variety of programs are held once a month. Our 8th graders are invited to attend the regional Kadima Kinnus held in March and both 7th and 8th graders can also be in the USY play! As a gift from Beth El Synagogue, Kadimah dues are free the year of your Bar/Bat Mitzvah.

USY
For 9th through 12th graders. This group meets frequently and participates in many educational, religious, and social programs including the annual USY play, Purim Carnival, services, kinnusim and conventions. USY elects an Executive Board each year and provides leadership training for its officers and chair-people. There are numerous ways to get involved and to develop lasting, meaningful Jewish friendships.
